Last night went to somewhere nearby Kepong with my elder sister and her family to buy some furnitures. After purchased some furnitures for their house, we went to a hawker centre near Carrefour to have dinner. Just right after we ordered our drink and about to think of what to eat, my sister said there were somebody screaming at the other corner of the foodcourt. When I looked at the said corner, I was shocked to see everybody stood up and ran towards our side and shouted "RUN"! We have no idea what was going on. I was panic and asked my sister they all to run too! (I even accidentally called her "hubby"!) In the running moment, I was so afraid and the first thing that came across my mind of was: What's wrong? Would be some mad person running around with knife and trying to injure people? (I was thinking of the news reported last few months ago about what was happened in Raub) And, I do not want to die!
I urged my sister and brother-in-law to run faster because I worried that they did not catch up. I saw some people even carried the plastic chair to run away together. I believe that they must be freaking out and did not realise what they were doing. We ran to the nearest vicinity and rested under a tree. There was a middle-age man asked us what was happened because he just follow the crowd to escape. Then we heard somebody told that it was actually a gas stove leaking and was on fire at one of the foodstall. They afraid it migh leads to a huge explosion because all the food stalls are very close to each other. If it did happen, the event of explosion could be unpredictable serious. My brother-in-law wanted to drive his car away from the incident because he parked very near to the fire of that foodstall but my sister stopped him because it's too dangerous! In fact that's true, personal safety is most important in this kind of situation. Frankly speaking, if something bad is really happen, I really could not estimate the consequences and none of us could bear the pain.
Then we saw people from the nearest shoplots running to help on the fire with fire extinguishers. After about 10 minutes later, the fire was finally extinguished and the crowd has started to gradually return to the hawker center. We also took a seat after we ensure everything should be alright. My sister and I was shivering due to the unexpected incident.
But when we talked again about the thing just happened, we were laughing for the running details! Haha! (still able to laugh?)
And surprisingly among the four of us, my 7 years old nephew was the one who seems nothing and calm. Though my brother-in-law said he did shout when he was trying to carry him, I asked him if he scare. His answer was: "No ah, I just didn't know what for my daddy want to catch me?" He's funny, doesn't he?
But to be honest, Malaysia is in fact a stable country (take away the politic and ethnicity issue), natural disasters is very less if compared with other unfortunate countries. Therefore, we have not much or no experience when any unexpected incident or unfortunately event happen. Sometimes, we have no clue of what should we do and what should not.
Just like last week when earthquakes occurred in Indonesia. I was still working in the office at a 45-story high building (I was at 28th floor). Out of sudden, I felf a little dizzy, blurred and at the moment I was typing in front of computer, I felt my body seems shivering too. I thought it was the result of overloaded with work the entire day. Only later I realised when told by my boss that it was in fact an earthquake had just occurred.
The moment to escape for survival is really horrible, especially if you are with your family. Others than yourself, you have to worry about their safety too. Although nothing bad happened last night, but I hardly fall asleep. And, I do sincerely hope that we all could live in a peaceful world and everyone of us are safe and happy.
