Konnyaku

Hi ladies! I am here to bring you some good news if you are trying soooo hard to lose weight and keep fit. There's something that is very efficient in losing weight and easy to prepare.

It is Konjac, also known as Konyannku (蒟蒻). Konjac has a very light taste (or some people it does not has any taste at all. :P) It can easily get at local supermarket and usually come in a noodle-like strips or square form of jelly in either dark colour or pale white. In addition, it is selling at a very “cheap” price. A pack of 200-270g of Konnyaku (which can be served for a complete meal size) is only selling around RM3.90-RM5. I usually bought from Isetan supermarket.
Konnyaku is a traditional Japanese jelly-like health food made from a kind of potato called “Konnyaku potato” (or konnyaku root) and calcium hydroxide or oxide calcium extracted from eggshells. It is totally a natural food that is also mixed with seaweed powder, that’s why people also named it as “vegetable jelly”.

Due to the No Fat, Low in calories and rich in dietary fibre, it is now very popular to use for normalizing the level of cholesterol, prevents high blood pressure and normalises the level of sugar in blood.

And, most important is (here come my main purpose!) it helps to maintain health and also efficient in losing weight if you use it to replace your daily meal.

A pack of Konnyaku at 270g size only contains 5kcal! Gosh, just imagine if you eat for 3 meals a day, how many calories you are actually consume?

But the problem is you may be have no idea of how to cook or to serve your choosy tongue?

Well, you may have a try with my recipe.

Recipe 1: Use Konnyaku to replace Soba noodles and served with Tsuyu soup base(Cold soba sauce). Boiled water and cook Konnyaku for about 2-5 minutes, soak into ice-water and yes, it’s so easy that is ready to eat now!

Recipe 2: Eat in a healthy way with salads and fruits. Just cut Konnyaku into small pieces or slices, then use the same way to cook Konnyaku Jelly. Add some salad sauce.

Recipe 3: Konnyaku Miso Soup. Slice Konnyaku into noodle shape, or buy those that sell in noodle-strips and wash with clean water. Then boil a small packet of Miso soup paste with Konnyaku noodle, you may also add some seaweed or beancurd if you want.
Recipe 4: Sukiyaki Konnyaku. Cook your favourite vegetables, mushrooms and slices meat with Konnyaku noodle.

For more recipes, just search online or try out with your own one.

I am already had my second Konnyaku meal today. To be frank, I am not going to eat it everyday but I will have it for may be 2 or 3 meals in a week for lunch. Let's see the result and I heard it can easily lose 13kg in a month if it replace for 3 daily meals, don't know how true it is. :P Of course, a healthy meal with moderate exercise is still the ideal choice. (^_^)
